During my media tour, I appeared as a sunscreen expert on Good Day Sacramento, in Sacramento, CA. The first report by an Italian University reported that 4000 to 6000 metric tons of chemical sunscreen ingredients are being deposited into the world oceans each year and certain chemical UV filters used in the most popular sunscreen are bleaching coral in as little at four days.

In the last 8 months I have come to understand that the battle to inform America about the importance of using a sunscreen that contains topical antioxidants is just beginning. Whenever I have an opportunity to get face-to-face with people, the number one question I get is, "What's the SPF?"

In the last 40 years, the sunscreen industry has done an excellent job of convincing people that a higher SPF equals significantly more skin protection. Actually, aside from the fact that SPF is only an indicatior of UVB protection, this is not the case. In fact, the difference between an SPF-20 and an SPF-30 is only 1.6%.
 
A report by The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology supports the MelanSol formulation. It concluded that traditional sunscreens are "inadequate" at protecting you from photoaging damage--free radical based UV skin damage that causes excess wrinkles, sagging skin, sun spots and skin cancer.
